Slaughterhouse-Five: The Graphic Novel
Summary
Slaughterhouse-Five: The Graphic Novel, adapted by Ryan North and illustrated by Albert Monteys, is a visual retelling of Kurt Vonnegut's classic anti-war novel, Slaughterhouse-Five. This graphic novel reimagines the story of Billy Pilgrim, a World War II veteran who becomes "unstuck in time" after experiencing the horrific firebombing of Dresden, Germany.
The narrative follows Billy as he time-travels between different moments of his life, including his wartime experiences, post-war suburban life, and his abduction by aliens from the planet Tralfamadore. Through the protagonist's surreal journey, the graphic novel explores themes such as the human condition, the futility of war, and the nature of time and free will.
Published by Archaia, an imprint of BOOM! Studios. The publisher does not provide a specific recommended age range, but it is generally suggested for readers aged 16 or older.

Lafayette High School
As of April 2, 2023, Slaughterhouse-Five: The Graphic Novel was still available in the Lafayette High School library, as confirmed by the image below. Although the district claims to have “reviewed collections” and “removed books” in accordance with Missouri Senate Bill 775 (SB 775), their "Response to Library Legislation" page does not specify when the removals actually occurred, possibly to avoid liability. Evidence from the Wayback Machine shows that Slaughterhouse-Five: The Graphic Novel remained accessible well past the legal deadline, raising serious concerns about the district's compliance with state law.
