The Sacrifice of Darkness

Summary

The Sacrifice of Darkness is a graphic novel written by Roxane Gay and illustrated by Tracy Lynne Oliver. The book is a modern retelling of the classic short story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" by Ursula K. Le Guin.

The story follows a couple, Dahlia and Louie, who live in a world where the sun never sets. When Dahlia becomes pregnant, she begins to question the sacrifices that the people in their community are forced to make in order to maintain the perpetual daylight.

As Dahlia and Louie navigate the challenges of parenthood and their changing relationship, they also grapple with the larger issues of social justice and the ethics of sacrifice.

Published by Archaia, an imprint of BOOM! Studios, the book is recommended by the publisher for readers aged 14 and up.
