White Kids: Growing up with Privilege in a Racially Divided America is a non-fiction book written by Margaret A. Hagerman, a sociologist and professor at Mississippi State University. The book explores the experiences of white children from affluent families as they grow up in racially divided America, drawing on interviews with families in two predominantly white communities in the United States.
Through her research, Hagerman examines the ways in which white children are socialized to understand race and racism, and how they develop their own racial identities. She also looks at how these children and their families respond to issues of racial inequality and injustice.
